EXPERIENCE

QUANTUM CORPORATION - Automation Test Engineer2005 – 2014

Testing new Drive Storage Arrays & Tape Library Products. supporting firmware and mechanical design engineers, creating new and enhancing existing test procedures. 

Worked with design engineers to help identify product bugs and verify bug fixes.

·   Wrote test specifications & test cases for new product features, updated existing test specifications to provide better test coverage, reported test failures in a bug tracking database.  Reviewed Users Manuals and Maintenance Manuals. 

·   Performed EVT, DVT, Regression and development support testing which involved manual testing through the product WEB interface and Local Console plus running test scripts through Fibre Channel & SCSI interfaces.

·   Worked closely with design team to successfully complete a new robot design.  This included position repeatability, life testing, scanner capability and other tests.

·   Created & documented Perl test scripts for additional test coverage, fixed bugs in existing perl scripts, and added features to improve script result reporting.

 

XYRATEX CORPORATION - Senior Software QA Engineer2001 - 2003

QA Testing of Talos test software.  Testers include Fibre Channel, SCSI and ATA interfaces.  Worked with hardware/software development engineers. Identify and demonstrate product bugs and their fixes.

·  Created QA test suites for Design Verification of Fibre Channel interface board, Test Script compiler, Test control software and Test system Host program.  Used Awk and Batch to automate the compiler tests.

·  Created ATA test suite and test libraries to use in Qualification test of drives for Network memory systems.  Used a custom test scripting language.

 

ADAPTEC CORPORATION - Senior Test Engineer2000 – 2001

Created automated test suites for company software products.  Wrote utility programs for hardware test groups.   Wrote bug reports.

·  Wrote automated tests using Silk Test for CD Creator Pro and Platinum for QA group to use.  These led to identification of many program bugs and quick verification of bug fixes.

·  Created small test software tools using C for hardware test groups.

 

QUANTUM CORPORATION - Senior Test Engineer1990 – 1999

Developed test software for the workstation product lines.  Wrote and maintained drive configuration and test software. Liaison between Factory and Field Configuration, Quality, Repair groups and all the Milpitas product design teams.  Wrote test specifications and software for special tests on all Quantum ATA and SCSI products.

·  Test Engineering becoming the leader in internal product design and quality standards, when I was in this position.

·  Worked both independently and as a team member to define design, test and configuration processes that became company standards.

·  Applied communication skills and analytical abilities to coordinate product design, production test and customer configuration needs.

·  Successfully rewrote software for analog scanners on two product lines using C++ to improve tester yields from around 50% to over 90%.

·  Wrote program using C and the Paradox Engine to extract data from tester output files and put it into a relational database for process and product analysis.  Wrote a users guide for the program and taught classes on how to use it.

·  Led a successful effort to rewrite and modularize test code using C++.

·  Worked closely with design, QA, repair center and configuration groups to improve manufacturability, testability, and product quality.

·  Tested field returns to identify how failed products past production, then changed production tests and recommended process changes to prevent production escapes.
